Assassin's Creed: Forsaken is the latest thrilling novelization by Oliver Bowden based on the phenomenally successful game series. The new game, Assassin's Creed III, takes one of gaming's most popular franchises to new heights in its most realistic world yet and introduces a brand new Assassin, Connor. During the American Revolution, Connor has sworn to secure liberty for his people and his nation and unleashes his powerful skills on the chaotic, blood-soaked battlefields of the hostile American wilderness. Assassin's Creed: Forsaken is the story behind who Connor really is and how he has become a deadly killer.

The world of the Assassins has become far more lethal than ever before.

This book is really for the fans of the game. For a standalone novel, I felt the story didn't really come out: the storytelling felt like a summation of actions, there was no real personality in any of the characters, and there really was no suspense in the entire story. I really felt like the story was missing a central arc, which players of the game probably get through their knowledge of the game. Without it my interest in the characters wasn't triggered at all. I also was rather annoyed by the inconsistent use of Italian throughout the book.

That being said, the story is fast paced and the writer does relate a lot to knowledge about 15th century Italy. If you are a fan of the video games, then you might enjoy this book; otherwise, I wouldn't recommenced it.
