"Altair embarks on a formidable mission - one that takes him throughout the Holy Land and shows him the true meaning of the Assassin's Creed. To demonstrate his commitment, Altair must defeat nine deadly enemies, including Templar leader, Robert de Sable. Altair's life story is told here for the first time: a journey that will change the course of history; his ongoing battle with the Templar conspiracy; a family life that is as tragic as it is shocking; and, the ultimate betrayal of an old friend"--Page 2 of cover.

This book is really for the fans of the game. For a standalone novel, I felt the story didn't really come out: the storytelling felt like a summation of actions, there was no real personality in any of the characters, and there really was no suspense in the entire story. I really felt like the story was missing a central arc, which players of the game probably get through their knowledge of the game. Without it my interest in the characters wasn't triggered at all. I also was rather annoyed by the inconsistent use of Italian throughout the book.

That being said, the story is fast paced and the writer does relate a lot to knowledge about 15th century Italy. If you are a fan of the video games, then you might enjoy this book; otherwise, I wouldn't recommenced it.
