Flauschbuch finished reading Nostalgia by André Kubiczek
Hat mir gut gefallen #2025reads
So many books, so little time (and space)...
The original plan was to work through the piles of unread books in my flat, not to mention the e-books I have and the audiobooks I bookmarked on Spotify/lismio. But somehow, those keep growing. Also, I re-discovered the library. ;)
I mostly read Sci-fi, Fantasy and historical fiction. Also non-fiction (mostly history of one kind or another). I read in English and German and occasionally French.

#2025reads
The novel reminded me of "Parable of the Sower/Talents" at times because the way people react to climate change and the ensuing destruction of their livelihoods is the main focus. It's a lot less grim. I thought it was a very realistic take on how society would be like. It's set in Canada so their dystopia is also a bit nicer than the usual US based variant. Recommended for anyone into climate fiction.
I must admit, I kind of expected something different based on the title. I don't see the connection between "pirate" and the content of the book. It's not really an adventure book, either. I appreciate that the author tries to depict a realistic version of what will become of Florida (and other parts of the world) in the near future and that she follows the protagonist over the course of her whole life. In that sense, the book is quite interesting to climate fiction readers. The first part of the book felt rather cumbersome. I couldn't quite get into the book as if something was missing, though.
