The gay place (1995, University of Texas Press) No rating

A smarmy, boring tome about characters who interact with Governor Arthur Fenstermaker, a machiavellian political …

This was published in 1961. That must have been a TIME. So far all these politicians just stay out all night drinking and necking. In TEXAS.

I wonder what they meant when they called people hipsters?

Also lol at the college kid writing about how the youth are doomed, no way out. We are and always have been human

The Knockout Queen (Hardcover, 2020, Knopf) No rating

I thought the other night that this book feels like Chuck Pahahniuk tackles a Judy Blume situation, and now I think that is dead on. (One of her aimed older ones, like Forever) I am disturbed, i care deeply for the characters, and I can’t see anyway for this to come out ok in the end. Pretty sure i will recommend but also don’t know where to start with the content warnings.
