Creative block (2014) 4 stars

A lot of these people went to art school

Was hoping for more "Outsider Artists" but I realize the flaw with that with the whole "usually discovered after their death" thing. Can't interview corpses (unless you use a Ouija board). Anyway, I want to be clear, this is nice. I'm not going to use all the exercises because next to none of them are designed for writing. I might do the sketching ones. And I kind of DO want to pick up collage.

Anyway, I don't Think it helped with my creative block, but I don't regret reading it.

I want to be clear: most of my problems with this book are personal problems, and I think it's FINE provided you don't get ideas that it will solve WRITER'S BLOCK. (unless the idea is to take up a different medium for a bit). It's a solid book, just be careful of your preconceived expectations.

I started this at 4.5 but I think I'm bumping it to 5.

Premise is that the Queen Bee of a religious school, kissed three people, disappears the night of prom, and it's up to those three to find her.

This includes a lot of queer representation, and shows that your identity can evolve as you do (that's a minor plot point though).

The second half of the book is wildly different than the first half, but I don't mean that in a bad way.

Everything felt well put-together in this book.
