There is no danger of this ever becoming a favorite of mine. The basic travelogue format of the novel, does not resolve itself (there are several missing chapters according to Poe). The early sections of the tale lead us to a rather brutal, senseless mutiny, and cannibalism. The final section becomes a travelogue again ending in yet more senseless violence. Yep, this is not my cup of tea.

Our fourth reading is as fun as the first three.

As with most Shel Silverstein books, this one was, also, met by my grandson's riotous laughter. It is just plain fun poetry and artistic license.

Yet another successful re-read!

As he approaches age 10... this remains a beloved tome of poetry.

My grandson & I just finished this wonderful compendium of humorous poems. My grandson (7+) was especially moved by the final poem. He thinks it to be the perfect summary of the collection.

Third pass read... 2023.

I did not think it was possible for one tale to have so many twists and turns that it became a spiral, one that was out of control. Sadly, that is what this story does. The writing is wonderful, the literature aspects are strong. But, I am completely dizzy. The "me too", "culture wars" aspects of this tale are simply too much for me.

My grandson and I thoroughly enjoyed this little novel, It was good clean fun.

I'm afraid that this was just a huge disappointment for me. I recommend passing it by... too little, too boring, not very interesting.

This is a very good novel- the beginning of a major life's work. Clearly no one should expect this novel comes to a closure. It is instead a beginning of a' mystery' and tale of evolution.

This is an absolutely outstanding, albeit disturbing, tale of the future. It is simply amazing that it was written in the 1950s. I place it in a category of must read science fiction.

This book was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed it quite a bit, although the very end was verbose in providing excessive clarifications/ explanations. I will hunt about to see if I am able to find additional novels by Freeman Wills Crofts.

This is a strange and mildly humorous tale. The copy I received from Standard eBooks had a few formatting problems. Otherwise if you are simply looking for a speedy, light read this may be the ticket.

Not a highly entertaining read, although there are a few humorous parts. Because this is a script for a play, the reading is quite a bit different from that of a novel. It also is worth noting that the copy I downloaded from Standard eBooks had a few formatting difficulties.

This the third or fourth read for me. The surprises are gone, but the read itself remains worthwhile.
