For science fiction the book was too dull, there was nothing new or unique. The second part was -- as Asimov put it, -- rather "laughable." The first and last part were enticing, though the style of writing probably made it seem more interesting than it actually was. All over, I don't think it was a bad book, but after all the hype around it I expected much better.

Definitely lives up to its name.
5 stars
Full of very interesting PoCs very well explained. Now I really want to try out those funky file polyglots and reverse engineering a PCB myself.

A lot of topics, but only slightly touched.
4 stars
The book tries to cover a wide variety of topics, but touches each topic only slightly. I would have liked if the book had gone a bit deeper into certain topics. When reading, it's very noticeable how old this book is (or how fast computers progress). So don't blindly follow all the advice in it :-). Overall it is quite an interesting read, delivered with a bit of satire and some thought provoking quotes.

A great intro to Go
5 stars
I can definitely recommend this book to anybody wanting to learn Go. It contains lots of helpful examples and does a great job at explaining Go's concepts. It doesn't only show you the syntax, but also how something works under the hood.
Additionally, it's full of helpful advice and best practices.

A good overview of the ethics of AI
4 stars
But strongly advocates that only a few people should be in power, over who can create and use what AI, which seems like a horrible idea. (Though, what should you expect from a chairman of Google and a former NSA president assistant.)

Wonderfully written, and a lot of great advice.
5 stars
What a beautifully written book. You could open it at any page, randomly choose a sentence and it would make for a wonderful quote. Once you started reading, it's hard to stop.
The book is full of great (life-) advice with fitting examples from the author's own experiences.
