Redwood and Ponytail (EBook, 2019, Chronicle Books) 4 stars

A universal story of finding a way to be comfortable in your own skin: Kate …

…and how it is that the two of us are created from the same ingredients when she seems so black coffee deep and I am so milkshake messy.

This book is written in verse, each page half air. But the whitespace carries meaning and balance; pages set solid with copy would tell a different story.

Inconspicuous Consumption (Paperback, 2022, Grand Central Publishing) 4 stars

The process by which ARPANET became the Internet is pretty complicated and would involve poor explanations by me of things like packet-switching and TCP/IP protocol and government bureaucracy, and neither you nor I would enjoy it.

I start a lot of books on the environment and on the internet. Most are tossed aside within 100 pages. The author's strong voice and self-awareness suggest this one will be a keeper.
