In the anime when the kids have escaped, mama puts down her hairs. This pulling down her hairs was not depicted in the manga.

I personally really like this extra detail. When all is set and the escape an inevitable fact, she is finally free to feel.

I don’t know if it’s my brain being fucked up or if the family structure described here is supposed to be interpreted as a metaphor to that of the real world.

Mama gives birth to children for survival. She loves her kids but for survival and pushed by the monsters governing all the farms she has no choice but to participate in all the lying and murdering of her children.
