Poison for Breakfast (Hardcover, 2021, Liveright) 5 stars

3.5 stars

It's a 3.5 for me because the entire book reads like a long, meandering sentence. Nothing against sentences like that but I'm bad at them. I always forget what was said at the beginning by the time the sentence reaches its conclusion.

It's a book of thoughts disguised as a mystery book for which along the way there will be a lot of bewilderment, as the author intended. Regardless, it gave me much to think about.

Exciting end to a great trilogy. The ending didn't quite scratch the itch in my brain but perhaps, as deemed by the Thunderhead, the best possible outcome is not necessarily the most satisfying.

Update: ok I thought about it a little more, and yea I think the Thunderhead dropped the ball on this one. Still a 4.5 tho

I read this. It was insane and tripping balls the entire way through, and now my brain feels like scrambled eggs. The writing has the vibes of fanfiction on crack, like if Rainbow Rowell's Fangirl and Miraculous Ladybug crossed paths. The narration and dialogue were hilarious even though nobody talks like that in real life, but I think that was the point. This book was a good time.

(Be warned tho, there's A LOT of teenage cringe that gets washed down with a heaping dose of teenage angst.)
