The ending was maybe a bit underwhelming, as I was expecting a different outcome from the double narrative in the chapter beginnings, but the book does a very good job of setting up the series while still telling a contained story. The crime heist isnt a usual theme for fantasy books, but it works well ! The magic system is also very well defined but leaves room for expansion (well, as big as the table of elements would allow)

I really devoured this.

I enjoyed Brandon Sanderson's handling of the end of The Wheel of Time, so I'm curious to see what he does with a world of his creation.

This book inspired me to try and find other books that do a deep historical and technical dive on a specific alcoholic beverage, so I'm open to suggestions.

Full of interesting quotes from brewers, historical information about the evolution of beer in belgian and flemish breweries and technical information about brewing wild beers.

Both the words and the tables were easy to read and more importantly a clear explanation of the reasons behind the various processes gave me plenty of ideas for future experimentation.

I really zipped through this book, it was much easier to read than I thought it would and it gave me plenty of ideas for experiments.

@agafnd@bookwyrm.social For what it's worth, I read this as a child and part of the themes is a gradual lessening of the strict caste separation, symbolized in part by the Master Harper Robinton. (Who I think is the character that impressed upon me the most in the whole series.)

Ce livre est excellent. La charactérisation des personages et leur dialogue interne est unique et le monde dans lequel ils évoluent est complexe et bien imagé. Chaque paragraphe suit un membre différent de la horde, avec une symbolisation élégante pour accompagner le lecteur dans ces changements de point de vue sur le personage principal; le vent. Je le recommande fortement.

J'ai dévoré ce livre, il rejoindra Dalhgren et The book of the new sun dans ma liste de livres préférés.

Found at a brewing shop, I enjoy lambic and I brew wild fruit wines at home, so this might be interesting.
